Almost £500,000 has been awarded to groups across the Rawmarsh and Conisbrough constituency as part of the government’s latest funding through the Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme.

Four groups have been awarded a total of £491,584 to improve facilities locally.

Wath Stars Junior Football Club, Brampton United JFC and Wath Academy have all received funding towards new goalposts.

Parkgate Astro, run by Rotherham United Community Trust, has also received £483,703 to help upgrade the artificial grass pitch at the facility on Greasbrough Road.

Rawmarsh and Conisbrough MP John Healey said:

“Grassroots sport clubs are at the heart of our community and I’m pleased to see that vital improvements are being made to sporting facilities in our area.

“Investment like this helps expand access, encourage more people to get active, and support clubs that do so much to bring people together.

“This government’s continued investment means more community clubs and facilities can get people participating in the sports they love.”

The Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme provides funding to make essential facility improvements, so that communities have high-quality pitches to play on, building on investment from previous years.

This is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to providing people across the United Kingdom with opportunities to get active.

The programme is investing £125 million in 2024/25 to support facilities across the whole of the UK.
