In the summer of 2023, a new day time bus service was introduced for Wentworth after a successful campaign led by MP John Healey and Wentworth Parish Council.
This new service – the no.7 bus by the operator Globe – introduced a daily bus Monday to Saturday through the village running between Barnsley and Rotherham town centres.
The no.7 bus is now being expanded to provide additional evening services Monday to Saturday – and a new Sunday service that wasn’t available before.
The new service is set to start from 31 August 2025 and the new timetable is already published and available. You can find the new timetable on the link here.
John Healey, MP for Wentworth, has said:
“I’m so pleased our no.7 bus for Wentworth is now being expanded with extra evening times and a new Sunday service. This builds on our successful community campaign to get a proper daily bus service for the village and the residents.”
This expansion of the no.7 service has come about thanks to extra funding from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA).
Working with Rotherham Council to identify the bus services, SYMCA have agreed to fund additional evening and Sunday journeys on some routes across Rotherham to help improve connections for local communities.
Our no.7 bus that serves Wentworth was one of the service identified to benefit from this additional funding.
