John Healey is encouraging people to reach out for a cuppa and a catch up as part of Samaritans Brew Monday campaign.

The third Monday in January is often referred to as Blue Monday – the most difficult day of the year – when New Year’s resolutions fail and bad weather and debt problems cause people to feel down.

But Samaritans is turning that myth on its head and encouraging everyone to reach out and talk to people about any issues they might be facing.

John said: “Sometimes talking things through with others can really help when you’re feeling down and there’s no better way to get together than over a brew.

“As well as talking to someone it’s also important to listen to others and, even though it can be difficult due to other things getting in the way, we should make time to catch up with friends, family and colleagues.

“We all have our good days and our bad days, and those aren’t for the calendar to decide.”
