John Healey MP welcomed Rotherham Military Community veterans (MCVC) to Parliament earlier this week. The group supports military personnel, both past and present, with help and advice on a range of issues such as healthcare, housing and employment.
Over 30 members and supporters of MCVC made the journey down to Westminster to see Parliament in action. The group enjoyed a tour of Westminster, followed by a question-and-answer session with John and neighbouring Rother Valley MP Jake Richards, finished with a trip to the public gallery in the House of Commons to observe ministers from the Department of Education take questions from MPs.
John Healey has worked extensively with MCVC, most recently speaking at the launch of their ‘Move To Grid’ campaign, a new online space for veterans to find organisations, local services, events and community groups to access their help and support.

“The visit was far more than a tour; it was an opportunity for our veterans to deepen their understanding of the institutions they served to defend and to feel recognised for their contribution to our nation. The experience left a lasting impression on everyone who attended.
“We were honoured to take part in a private question and answer session with two of Rotherham’s Members of Parliament, John Healey MP and Jake Richards MP. Their willingness to engage openly with our veterans provided a unique opportunity to discuss issues of importance to our community and gain a greater understanding of the work undertaken on behalf of constituents.

We also offer our heartfelt thanks to John’s team, whose hard work and attention to detail before, during and after the visit ensured the day was such a tremendous success.
