Rawmarsh and Conisbrough MP John Healey has welcomed news that patients in Rawmarsh are set to benefit from the Government’s plans to upgrade and refurbish GP surgeries across the country.

The High Street Surgery is one of over 1000 that will receive vital funding to create additional space to see more patients, boost productivity and improve patient care, following years of neglect.

John Healey MP said:

“Right now, many GP surgeries could be seeing more patients, but don’t have enough room or the right facilities to accommodate them. From creating new consultation and treatment rooms to making better use of existing space, these fixes will help patients across the country, including here in Rawmarsh, be seen faster.

“Over the past 15 years people have contacted me about their frustrations around getting an appointment to see their doctor and facing that dreaded 8 o’clock scramble for appointments on the phone.

“I promised the new Government would help fix the NHS and bring back the family doctor. With this announcement and 1,500 new GPs recruited already I’m delighted that the Government is starting to deliver on that promise.

“The extra investment and improvement this government is making will transform our NHS so it can once again be there for you when you need it.”

The boost represents the biggest investment in GP facilities in five years and is another measure helping the government shift care out of hospital and into the community, as part of its Plan for Change.
