MP backs fight against breast cancer
Local MP John Healey is backing the fight against breast cancer and urging constituents to join him in “Wear it Pink” day – Breast Cancer Campaign’s annual day to raise funds and awareness .
Wear it Pink day, on Friday 26 October, will see supporters from all over the country in schools, colleges and businesses embracing the event.
John Healey is asking everyone to pull on something pink on the day and donate £2. The MP said: “Whether it’s pink socks, a pink skirt, a pink tie or something much more adventurous – but still pink – you can help the charity hit its £2 million target to continue funding ground-breaking cancer research”.
John Healey went on: “One in 8 women experience breast cancer during their lifetime, and around 130 are newly diagnosed every day. That’s why we need to back the Breast Cancer Campaign so it can fund research which will one day lead to a cure.
“Hundreds of thousands of people take part in “Wear it Pink” every year, and people can visit wearitpink.co.uk and register to receive a free fundraising pack now.”
