Representatives from two local businesses joined John Healey and Labour Leader Keir Starmer at a special reception in Westminster.
Simon Lilley, Head of Finance at packaging company CEPAC, and Adam Carnell, Co-CEO of medical manufacturer Bluetree Group, met up with the Wentworth and Dearne MP in London this week.
The event was attended by other Labour MPs and businesses to celebrate the impact local firms have in their area.
John said: “It was great to see Simon and Adam in Westminster and celebrate the work that they do in our local community.
“Bluetree is a local manufacturing success story and played a key role in manufacturing face masks during the Covid-19 pandemic. That included producing transparent masks which helped to make communication easier, especially in hospitals for people with hearing loss.
“CEPAC is the UK’s leading independent producer of print and packaging and has been working on reducing its carbon footprint with the installation of solar panels at its head office in Manvers.
“We want to recognise and celebrate the amazing contribution that businesses make to our communities and our country and commit to tackle the challenges they still face. It was a pleasure to celebrate local businesses who bring much needed jobs, services and vibrancy to our communities.”
Simon Lilley, Head of Finance at packaging company CEPAC said: “I’d like to thank John for the opportunity to meet with him and Keir and discuss the important part local firms play in the community.
“We discussed a number of things including CEPAC’s commitment to reducing our carbon footprint making us a greener energy efficient company.”
Adam Carnell, Co-CEO of medical manufacturer Bluetree Group said: “It was great to visit John and Keir in Westminster.
“We spoke about the work Bluetree Group is doing locally and nationally and the importance of medical manufacturing across the UK. We also discussed the challenges currently facing businesses across the country.”
A Labour government would give businesses more certainty over the future.
The party will work in partnership with business to rebuild our economy, and to create the strong economic growth we need to fund our public services, keep taxes low and bring down the debt.
