Rawmarsh and Conisbrough MP, John Healey, has welcomed the lifting of HS2 safeguarding restrictions across parts of Rotherham and Doncaster including Bramley, Ravenfield, Hooton Roberts and Old Denaby.
In a written statement made by the Secretary of State for Transport in Parliament it was confirmed that safeguarding along the former Phase 2b Eastern leg of HS2 between the West Midlands and Leeds has been lifted, removing the uncertainty that has affected many people along the former route.
HS2 Ltd will be writing to the owners of properties affected explaining what these changes mean to them.
John Healey MP said:
“I’m pleased it’s now been confirmed that HS2 safeguarding restrictions have been lifted along the former Phase 2b Eastern leg.
“This is something I have been campaigning for over a number of years and pressed the previous government on in January last year.
“It is very welcome news, especially for those people locally who have faced the long shadow of HS2 looming over them for so long.”
For areas where safeguarding has been removed, the Secretary of State for Transport has also closed the Rural Support Zone, Express Purchase, Rent Back and Need to Sell Schemes.
Affected property owners can get in touch with HS2 Ltd via email at HS2enquiries@hs2.org.uk or via the HS2 Helpdesk on Freephone (08081 434 434) which is open for calls at any time.
There is also a Freephone minicom number (08081 456 472) for callers with hearing or speech difficulties.
