John Healey MP joined the official opening of “The Hub”, a new community centre in Rotherham, alongside Rotherham Titans’ players, trustees and volunteers.
John was given a tour of the building at the rugby club’s home at Clifton Lane which is a new base for the Titans Community Foundation.
The project was created by young people for young people and will become an integral part of the Foundation’s work with youngsters and the community across the borough.
Rawmarsh and Conisbrough MP John Healey said:
“The Titans have already done so much, but this new “Hub” will allow them to do so much more for children across the borough.
“It’s not just for young people, it needs to be as much with them and run by them as possible.
“Opening the Hub is a day of celebration and a day of congratulation. It’s a celebration of the success of the Titans Community Foundation, a celebration of the club and by association it’s also a celebration of Rotherham as well”
The Titans Community Foundation received £700,000 in funding from the Department for Culture, Media and Sports and raised more funds through fundraising events carried out by volunteers.
The new “Hub” includes a variety of different spaces such as classrooms and table tennis tables to allow children to learn and enjoy themselves.
