John Healey MP is supporting an Edlington primary school with their campaign to improve road safety. The student leadership team at St Mary’s Primary School met with their local MP to discuss their concerns with road safety during drop-off and pick-up times.
The team, made up of Tommy, Jasmine, Princeton, Dominic, Jasmine, Jacob, Charlie and Anaya, delivered a presentation to their local MP, expressing their worries about speeding vehicles, unsafe parked cars and the lack of a designated crossing point for pupils.

During the meeting, they discussed possible solutions to their concerns and planned a campaign plan, which including getting in contact with the local police and council officers.

“It is fantastic to see the student leadership team working so hard to address an ongoing issue outside of their school.
“They made a coherent and passionate case for making school drop-off and pick-up times safer for the school community.
“I look forward to working with them, the head of school, Sarah McCall, and wider stakeholders to bring about positive changes to Bungalow Road and the St. Mary’s school community.”
