A Rawmarsh post office is set to re-open in a new location after it was closed in January.

John Healey has been working with the Post Office to find a new location for the Kilnhurst Road branch after it was announced that the McColl’ store it was located in would close.

Following the announcement, at the end of last year, John contacted several shops in the area to find out if they would be able to accommodate a post office service.

It’s now been confirmed that the branch will re-open at 115 Clay Pit Lane in Rawmarsh on Thursday 27th April alongside the retail counter of the convenience store.

John said: “I’m pleased that I was able to work with the Post Office to find a suitable place to restore this service to the area.

“I know residents in this part of Rawmarsh were upset when they heard that the branch would be closing and it’s really good news that the post office will re-open close to its original location.

“Having access to a post office in this part of Rawmarsh is important for the community with a lot of people relying on community post offices like this for sending and picking up parcels.”

There is an opportunity to give feedback on the plans for the post office which run until 19th April.
