John Healey MP joined fellow Doncaster and Bassetlaw MPs and Doncaster Mayor Ros Jones to see the first flight for two years land back at Doncaster Airport.

The aviation and airspace company, 2Excel, will house its aircraft at the site as part of a winter maintenance programme with a number of other flights set to take place in the coming months.

This is another step forward towards the airport reopening for passengers in Spring 2026.

John Healey said: “I was so pleased to see the first 2Excel plane land back at Doncaster Sheffield Airport for the first time in two years.

“As Doncaster MPs we’ve all been working hard behind the scenes to help support Mayor Ros Jones, Doncaster Council and South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority to reopen our airport which has incredible potential, bringing jobs and opportunity to Doncaster and the wider South Yorkshire economy.”
