Chancellor John Healey has set out his plan to drive growth in every postcode, backing Britain’s extraordinary strengths to deliver benefits across the whole country. Labour is telling a new story of Britain: optimism, grit and resilience with economic success felt in every postcode.
John Healey argued fiscal credibility is indivisible from good growth. He set out a plan for a new partnership between government, local leaders and businesses to boost British investment, innovation and skills.
Putting place at the heart of the plan, Labour has announced a new £150m scale up fund across the North of England.
The Government is taking an axe to the thicket of unnecessary consultation, litigation and administration holding back growth.
The Government has also set out an ambition to double the number of UK unicorn firms in clear signal of ambition for the British economy.
There will be new powers will help businesses test and scale technologies from pavement robots to medical treatments.
