John Healey MP visiting a school before the pandemic

MP John Healey has contacted all schools in the Wentworth & Dearne constituency offering to help with classes during lockdown.

He has a number of sessions already booked in, and will talk to pupils about democracy, his job and how Parliament works.

He said: “During this lockdown, so many are putting in extraordinary effort to make sure our children keep learning.

“It’s a really hard time for teachers, juggling children in the classroom with those learning online at home.

“And it’s a really hard time for parents, juggling home-schooling with work.

“I want to do what I can to help.”

The first session will be on Friday (January 22) when he’ll be talking to year 5s from St Thomas Primary Academy in Kilnhurst.

Next week he’ll be meeting children from West Melton Primary and Our Lady and St Joseph’s Primary in Wath.
