Bus service return welcome

John Healey has welcomed news that Stagecoach is bringing back bus services to the Manor Farm estate in Rawmarsh, Rotherham.

The MP called on Stagecoach’s managing director Paul Lynch to reconsider changes to services 108 and 109 after being contacted by a number of residents.

People found they could no longer travel directly from Manor Farm to Thorogate and the Sandhill/Kilnhurst Road area and complained of being cut off from the shops, post office, school and doctors.

Mr Healey received confirmation today from Mr Lynch that the 109 bus will restore links to Manor Farm, Thorogate and other areas of Rawmarsh.

He said: “I am pleased Stagecoach has listened to concerns I raised on behalf of residents who clearly valued this service.

“Older people in particular found the changes made it almost impossible to get to where they needed to. I am sure they will be delighted the service will soon be back in action.”

The 109 is one of a series of changes to services in the Dearne Valley that will come into effect from 20 July.
