MP OPENS ROTHERHAM ARTS FESTIVAL
John Healey MP officially opened the 3rd Rotherham Open Arts Festival on Friday.
Organised by Rotherham Culture Company, the festival sets out to celebrate the arts in Rotherham and attract national and international artists to the town.
John said: “This is a celebration, as well as a performance, of the arts In Rotherham.
“The 10 day festival is multi-media and multi-cultural, with artists that are local and national and international.
“This is a boost to the arts in Rotherham but also a boost to the town centre and part of its renaissance. Rotherham is well known for its industrial muscle, enterprise and hard work as its beating heart but arts and culture give a town its soul and spirit – this is what makes the festival so important for Rotherham.
“Congratulations to the Rotherham Culture Company who have pulled together such a wide ranging programme of live performances.”
The festival runs until Sunday, October 11 in the Spiegeltent, All Saints Square, Rotherham. See www.rotherhamculture.org for more information.
