John Healey pulled a pint of his favourite local brew as he showed his support for Proud of Pubs Week.
The MP called in on the Rockingham Arms in Wentworth and served up a glass of Wentworth Brewery’s WPA.
Licensee Glen Symonds, who has only been behind the bar for four months, said business was good and the locals had been really welcoming. He and wife Taryn have run a pub in Cheshire for the last 14 years.
John said: “I make a point of supporting Proud of Pubs Week every year to highlight the important place pubs have in their local communities. And I want to show my support for landlords like Glen. I know it can be a tough time for businesses but pubs are often right at the heart of our villages and towns and I am here to give them the help I can to see them do well in the future.”
Proud of Pubs Week, which runs July 11 to 19, is a national celebration of pubs organised by The Publican magazine.
