MP VOWS TO CONTINUE FIGHT AGAINST POLICE STATION CLOSURE
LOCAL MP John Healey has vowed to continue his campaign against closing Wath police station to the public.
It follows a recent meeting with Chief Supt Richard Tweed, who has taken the decision to close the enquiry desk from April 1.
Mr Healey said: “Chief Supt Tweed has to work harder to convince me and local people that this is going to improve local policing and residents’ confidence in it.
“I continue to pick up a strong reaction to his proposals and we will continue the campaign to keep Wath police station open to the public.”
Mr Healey urged anyone who wants the police station to remain open to the public have add their names to his petition, as more than 250 people have already done. Petitions are available at his constituency office at 79 High Street, Wath, and at various shops in the town.
