MP PRESENTS BOOKS TO LIBRARY
MP John Healey presented a range of children’s books to Rawmarsh Library today.
It is part of a drive to keep thousands of young people reading, even during school holidays.
He received the books at a reception for MPs in the House of Commons.
Mr Healey said: “Reading plays such an important role in children’s development.
“Local libraries have a great range of children’s books, and most put on activity sessions during the school holidays. I would encourage families to go down and see what’s on offer.”
According to The Reading Agency, an independent charity working to get people reading more, continuing reading throughout school holidays improve’s children’s reading range, confidence and enjoyment. Schools say it contributes to their overall confidence and reading achievement, with potentially life-changing results.
The books were donated by children’s publishers.
