MP DROPS IN TO DEARNE CHILDREN’S CENTRE
MP John Healey has praised staff and described a children’s centre in the Dearne as one of the best.
Mr Healey was shown round Dearne Community Children’s Centre in Bolton-on-Dearne, which is in the new part of his Wentworth and Dearne constituency.
He said: “The Dearne Community Children’s Centre is a fantastic facility – one of the best children’s centres I’ve seen.
“It was great to see all the centre has on offer and it was clear the staff are rightly proud of what they do and passionate about the difference they’re making to families.
“Centres like this in our area are too important to lose and must be protected as public spending comes under scrutiny.
“This is the way that every child gets the chance for the best possible start in life and mums and dads get the support they need – even before their baby is born.”
The centre, in Billingley View, has drop-in sessions for parents and children, special classes like music and movement and story and rhyme and a range of support for mums including help with with breastfeeding and stopping smoking.
