MP RE-VISITS CORUS PLANT
MP John Healey is to pay another visit to the Corus plant at Aldwarke.
Mr Healey already met site director Mark Broxholme, senior steward Bob Hudson and workers on Monday, February 2, shortly after job losses were announced.
At his second visit on Tuesday the Wentworth MP will receive an update from Corus bosses and speak to those facing redundancy.
In the meantime he has been working behind the scenes with the company, Rotherham Council and Yorkshire Forward to make sure as much help, advice and support is made available as possible.
He said: “This is a big blow to Corus’s dedicated workforce but plans are well advanced to ensure help is offered with finding new work, retraining and learning new skills and financial advice.”
Mr Healey has also been at the centre of measures being taken to help businesses prosper at the other side of the downturn, ensuring Corus is ready to build steel making in Rotherham when demand picks up again and setting up a new manufacturing taskforce in Yorkshire.
