FREE BURGLARY PREVENTION PACKS AVAILABLE

FREE anti-burglary packs containing advice and discount vouchers have been produced by the government.

It is part of a £20m initiative tackling repeat burglars and helping people to protect their homes.

Wentworth MP John Healey said: “House burglaries in South Yorkshire are at their lowest level for 22 years and members of the public are the police’s best weapon in continuing to fight this type of crime.

“There are lots of simple, practical steps we can take to secure our homes – and the vouchers in the free burglary prevention packs will make equipment that can help do that as affordable as possible.”

Jack Regan, crime reduction officer at Rotherham police, said: “These packs are excellent, informative and cover just about all the bases that we as crime reduction officers would focus on when conducting domestic dwelling surveys.”

Each pack contains:
Discount vouchers for home security devices at B&Q and Focus stores;
Advice leaflets on preventing burglary;
A Home Office home security self-assessment;
A ‘before you leave the house’ security checklist to put by the front door;
A guide to Neighbourhood Watch and the benefits of setting up a scheme;
Advice for tenants on home security – their and their landlord’s responsibilities;
A copy of the Policing Pledge.

The packs are available to everyone by ringing 0800 456 1213.
