NHS Rotherham unveiled a brand new GP practice in the Brampton area of Rotherham with the help of local MP John Healey.

The £175,000 state of the art practice has been built in response to consultation with local people who given the extra housing developments and increasing numbers of people living in the area, felt that that additional local health services were needed.

The surgery known as Brampton Primary Care Medical Centre, situated on Brampton Road, will offer the full range of GP services and will have extended opening times including Saturday and Sunday mornings to give patients easier access to local health services. The practice is immediately ready to accept up to 6,000 new patients and there will be a choice of experienced GPs and practice nurses to choose from. People can choose to register, even if they are currently registered with another GP, by picking up a registration form from the practice receptionists.

Andy Buck, Chief Executive of NHS Rotherham said: "This is great news for the people of Brampton. We are committed to listening to patients and investing into services which meet a local need. A big plus point is that the practice will be an accredited training practice for GP’s and other health professionals which means that they will be adopting the very latest in clinical practice so patients receive excellent standards of care."

Local MP John Healey said: "The NHS is one of our country’s greatest achievements and at 60 years old it is in great shape with more staff and new hospitals.

"We need an NHS which is fit for modern life and one of the first steps in making this happen is in changing GP services. Delivering the best possible services to patients that fits with their lives is a key government priority.

"That’s why we’re investing £250 million in new, additional services including over 150 GP-led health centres around the country, like this one in Brampton, and more than a hundred extra GP practices in the areas that need them most."

The practice which occupies the site of an old school has been refurbished to a high clinical standard and includes a clean room to enable minor surgical procedures to take place such as implantable contraceptives, vasectomies and minor skin procedures. There is also a dedicated pharmacy service. An additional bonus is 50 parking spaces for patients plus disabled parking right next to the front door.
