MP WELCOMES CAR TAX MOVE
MP John Healey has welcomed a move which will ensure drivers will be able to continue to pay for their car tax in Rawmarsh.
Motor vehicle licensing could previously be done at Parkgate Post Office, but since its closure was announced in October he has been pushing Post Office Ltd and the DVLA to transfer provision to the nearest alternative branch at Bellows Road.
A letter to Mr Healey from the DVLA this week confirmed the public had been consulted on the transfer and it was expected to go ahead early next year.
Mr Healey said: “I know many people were disappointed with the decision to close Parkgate but I am pleased that Post Office customers will still be able to access this important service in their local area.”
