EXTRA £3M FOR SOUTH YORKSHIRE
SOUTH Yorkshire councils are to receive nearly £3 million under a scheme which promotes economic growth.
The un-ringfenced additional funding is part of £100m being released by the government under the Local Authority Business Growth Incentives scheme, which began four years ago.
It is a reward to councils who have successfully encouraged new business growth in their areas.
Wentworth MP and local government minister John Healey said: “This scheme has made a real difference to local communities. It encourages councils to play a bigger role in backing business and new jobs in their area.”
The breakdown in South Yorkshire is as follows:
• Barnsley: £102,196
• Doncaster: £1,356,244
• Rotherham: £226,755
• Sheffield: £1,136,962
