REPORT ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR AT MP’S DROP-IN

AN MP has organised an anti-social behaviour drop-in session for people to talk to police and council officers about problems in their area.

It follows a survey carried out by John Healey in which thousands of residents were asked how safe they feel where they live and about their experience of problems like graffiti, youth nuisance and vandalism.

Now a drop-in session is to be held at the Wentworth MP’s constituency office in High Street, Wath-upon-Dearne between 9.30am and noon on Friday 12 March.

Mr Healey said: “I’ve been working with the police, council and other agencies on reducing problems of crime and anti-social behaviour in our area.

“As part of that I’ve been asking for views and while I am glad to be able to report that most people said they feel safe where they live, there are pockets where crime and anti-social behaviour is a problem.

“I know problems can grow if they are not nipped in the bud, which is why I’m holding this anti-social behaviour drop-in. People will be able to speak to me, police officers, local councillors and officers from Rotherham 2010 and Rotherham Council’s anti-social behaviour and Streetpride units. Just call in, have a cup of tea or coffee and let them know about the problems you think they should be tackling.”

The drop-in session will run alongside Mr Healey’s regular advice surgery at the office, when constituents can speak to him confidentially on any issue from 10-11am.
