Parliamentary Education Service
Bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade act 2007
4th June – 15th June

The Parliamentary Education Service will be offering a variety of special events for schools during two weeks in June, as part of Parliament’s exhibition and work to commemorate the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act.

They will be offering visits on the above dates for groups wishing to spend time at the exhibition, which would then be followed by an hour session with a member of the Education Team to explore the issues arising from what students have seen. In addition their will be a variety of specialist talks from Members of both Houses on this topic and the wider issues of slavery. The two weeks will culminate in a ‘Question Time’ event with students given an opportunity to ask questions relating to this subject to a panel of Parliamentarians.

Education packs will be available for schools to use in the classroom.
